Painting & Drawing

MATERIALS MATTER   - a five day workshop in how to build and use sketchbooks to generate finished pieces.

This drawing and painting course will introduce students to the importance and value of primary source material….but in a fun way. Sketchbooks will then be used in creating a series of finished pieces.
* Throughout the week Helen will show students how to make different kinds of sketchbooks. Students will produce a collection of studies both with conventional drawing materials and with more unusual bits and pieces found on our field trips to the surrounding streets of Barga.
* Guidance will be given in how to develop work from initial ideas through to composing finished pieces using collage, overprinting and layering.
* Sketchbook work and finished pieces can be displayed in the gallery throughout the day. This will give students the opportunity to look at others’ work and share ideas.
* Access to the indoor studio space is available during workshop hours.

Learn how to create different types of sketchbooks and develop the ideas into finished work using different materials and techniques.  The opportunity to display your work with other provides a valuable sense of context and feeds your creativity
